I will overwhelm 'serious boxer' Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight round match which will be broadcast live on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua stated he will "dominate completely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Fighter's Mindset

"I plan to break his face and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to seriously aim to injure him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

Despite such comments, a calm Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - normally recognized for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul rather targeted ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and labeled him "a joke" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at British opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua refused to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Still, the relative newcomer remains one of boxing's largest commercial attractions, frequently receiving huge paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a stoppage in round four or five and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Difference

As both boxers participated in the traditional confrontation, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it drove home just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is truly going ahead.
